MD Medical Group, which operates the Mother and Child chain of clinics, a leading private healthcare provider specializing in women’s and children’s health in Russia (“MD Medical Group” or the “Group”), today hosted a presentation for business media at its Perinatal Medical Centre hospital in Moscow.

Elene Mladova, CEO, provided insights on trends affecting the private healthcare industry in Russia with data from independent consultants, Frost & Sullivan.

The fee-for-service market for healthcare in Russia was assessed at 482 billion roubles in 2011, with the share of private clinics amounting to 48 billion roubles. From 2007 to 2011 the market grew on average by 12.4% annually. Over this same period the share of payments to private clinics rose by a faster rate – 19.8% annually. The fee-for-service market has developed with the growth of personal income (on average 13.2% growth from 2007 to 2011 annually) and increasing consumer spending (on average 12.6% growth from 2007 to 2011 annually).

Today MD Medical Group includes eight modern healthcare centres in Moscow and other key regions. In addition, a further three Mother and Child clinics are operated on a franchise basis in Kyiv and Irkutsk. The Group has recently completed construction of a new, 182-bed hospital in the Lapino region of Moscow which will welcome new patients later in 2012.

Commenting at the media presentation MD Medical Group CEO, Elena Mladova, said:

“Since our business was founded nearly 10 years ago, we have built the leading and fastest-growing provider of private women’s and children’s healthcare in Russia. At the same time, there is substantial headroom for further growth in our sector, with demand for private healthcare services far outstripping supply. We see substantial opportunities for our services both in Moscow and in the regions and are actively developing our chain in order to provide as many people as possible with access to exceptional medical care.”
